This is our Independence Day, and celebrities are taking to Instagram and Twitter to share their Uganda At 58 celebrations with the world.
From the incredible costumes to the multiplication of flags and the art of makeup, celebrities throw in the best on October 9 during the pandemic.
Like every holiday in 2020, this year is a little different as October 9 marks the 58th anniversary of Uganda’s independence. Usually, people celebrate with the beach fire by switching to friends, backyard barbecues, parties, concerts and big community fireworks shows.
At the time of the lockdown during the global epidemics, none of those things was really on the table.
Across the country, celebrities celebrate Independence Day and use it as an opportunity to reflect on the complex history of Uganda with freedom and liberty, thanks to Instagram and Twitter.
From Winnie Nwagi‘s flag reminder of our motherland to Railey Touch’s romantic tribute to President Museveni, and to TK Makeup Empire‘s call to action which encourages people who love their country to be able to change it in the face of impossible contradictions.
