Wizkid won the award at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), where Shatta Wale was vying for the ‘Best Art Direction’ nomination; the award also came as Wizkid will be touring internationally in support of his 2020 album ‘MADE IN LAGOS’.

Throughout September and October, Wizkid will be touring the US on his ‘MADE IN LAGOS’ tour; after that, he will travel to the UK and Canada to perform.

The song, which also features Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter and R&B singer SAINt JHN, beat out competition from Billie Eilish, Foo Fighters, Chance The Rapper, Lady Gaga, and Lorde.

Also nominated at the 2021 MTV VMAs, ‘Brown Skin Girl’ lost out to ‘Leave the Door Open’ by Bruno Mars, Anderson. Paak, and Silk Sonic.
