If you suffer from gastrointestinal problems, consider these helpful foods that will fight your stomach blues.

Recommended foods for stomach problems: Sometimes we don’t think about what’s on our body until it’s too late, and you feel balloon swollen when you’re sitting in bed, or worse, bending over the toilet and praying that it will pass.

If you suffer from gastrointestinal problems, consider these helpful foods that will fight your stomach blues.

Papaya

Your stomach will thank you for giving it some good, ripe papaya. The fruit contains an enzyme that makes it easy to digest proteins, helping people with constipation or irritable bowel syndrome (IPS).

Mix some papaya particles with milk or probiotic yoghurt to smooth it.

Rice or oats

You may already know that plain rice and chicken are perfect for dogs with diarrhoea. The same can be said for humans. If you have soft stools or diarrhoea and you don’t know why, try eating plain rice or oatmeal.

These bland foods can help calm anything that irritates your gut and stops the problem. Of course, always consult a medical professional for long-term concerns.

Carbonated drinks

Did you eat a little greasy food and it sat uncomfortably on your chest? If your stomach is upset with the order of a big greasy take, drink a bubble drink and get some relief.

Carbonation stimulates the pyloric valve, causing your stomach to empty some of its contents into the small intestine. Once your stomach feels low you will feel more comfortable.

Berries and citrus

Some fruits, such as apples and pears, have high levels of fructose, which can cause inflammation. It’s uncomfortable and unattractive, especially during bikini season.

Try fixing this problem with berries or citrus, such as orange and grapefruit. Such fruits are low in fructose and contain extra fiber, which can help to induce peristalsis, so you can easily pass on the gas.

Probiotic drinks (milk or non-dairy)

Taking an antibiotic can help you get infected, which can put a number on your immune system and your gut microbiome.

Side effects of these medications include diarrhoea, actually stinking gas, bloating, mood, constipation, and common anaemia in the abdomen.

Drinking a probiotic drink can help your gut microbiome regain homeostasis. It is not a long-term magic treatment, but studies suggest that short-term use of probiotics can help alleviate antibiotic side effects.
