Steel building solutions manufacturer Uganda Baati has opened its 17th showroom, this time in Kyengera, a growing commercial hub along the Kampala–Masaka Highway, in a move aimed at bringing its products closer to communities in central Uganda.

The new facility is expected to serve homeowners, contractors, and hardware businesses in Wakiso District and neighbouring towns including Buloba, Mpigi, Nsangi, Katende, and Bulega.

Speaking at the official opening, Uganda Baati’s CEO George Arodi said the expansion was in line with the company’s mission to improve accessibility to premium roofing materials.

“Kyengera’s energy and entrepreneurial spirit reflect exactly the kind of community we want to partner with,” Mr Arodi said. “This showroom brings us closer to our customers and allows us to better respond to their building needs.”

The showroom will offer the full range of Uganda Baati’s roofing brands, including Lifestyle, Orientile, Romantile, Versatile, Covermax, and Resincot.

Fighting Counterfeits

Beyond improving access, the new showroom also aims to curb the spread of counterfeit construction materials—a persistent problem in the building sector.

“Customers will now be able to buy genuine Uganda Baati products with confidence,” said Patrick Katende, Head of Service Centres and Sales. “We’re also offering expert advice to help people make informed choices that add long-term value to their homes and projects.”

Local Leaders Welcome Development

The launch was attended by district and local leaders, who praised the investment as a boost for economic development in the region.

Mrs Nantege Betinah, LC5 Vice Chairperson of Wakiso District, described the showroom as a timely intervention for a fast-growing area.

“We thank Uganda Baati for bringing essential services closer to the people. This is an opportunity for residents to access quality building materials without having to travel long distances,” she said.

Ganagwa Expedito, LC1 Chairperson of Kyengera Town Council, said the move would lower construction costs and stimulate local enterprise.

“This brings affordability and convenience to local builders. We’re ready to support this development and ensure word reaches every corner of our community,” he said.

The local police also pledged their support. Mr Kandiiho Livingston, the area’s District Police Commander, committed to ensuring a secure environment for businesses in the area.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Uganda Baati’s presence in Kyengera is also part of its wider Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, which focuses on four pillars: education, shelter, environment, and health.

The company said the showroom would not only serve customers but also act as a support hub for local hardware stores and distributors, reinforcing its supply chain in the region.

With more than 60 years in the industry, Uganda Baati is one of Uganda’s most recognisable brands in the construction sector. Its continued expansion reflects growing demand for reliable and sustainable building solutions in both urban and rural areas.
