KAMPALA | LIFESTYLE UGANDA — The 94th Academy Awards, also known as the Oscar 2022 nominations, were announced Tuesday and included films from a wide range of genres.
With 12 nominations, “The Power of the Dog” led the 2022 Oscar nominations. The drama’s director, Jane Campion, made history by becoming the first woman to receive a nomination for best director more than once.
She previously was nominated for “The Piano.”
Another record was set by fellow directing nominee Steven Spielberg. With “West Side Story,” which received seven nominations, Spielberg has now produced 11 films nominated for best picture, also a standout performance.
For his performance in “The Tragedy of Macbeth,” Denzel Washington earned his tenth nomination, exceeding the record he already held as the most nominated Black actor in Oscar history.
