The pre-taped Soul Train Awards, presented by BET, featured performances by prominent R&B and gospel artists.
The award show, hosted by Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell, honors African-American culture, music, and entertainment achievements.
A superb lineup of artists performed at the 2021 Soul Train Awards, including Silk Sonic’s Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, Ari Lennox, Lucky Daye, Fred Hammond, Tone Stitch, Musiq Soulchild, Ashanti, Leon Bridges, ELHAE, Summer Walker and Maxwell.
Two trophies went to Jazmine Sullivan: Best R&B/Soul Female Artist and Album Of The Year for Heraux Tales, while Normani was honored for her first Best Dance Performance award and acknowledged other female artists in her speech.
After Ashanti received the ‘Lady Of Soul’ award, she performed onstage with Ja Rule and Fat Joe, and Maxwell emotionally accepted the Living Legend Award and thanked Don Cornelius and the R&B community during his acceptance speech.
Next, Nigerian superstar, Wizkid won the award for ‘Best Collaboration’ at the Soul Train Awards 2021 for his song “Essence” ft Tems.
He beat out Chris Brown, Young Thug ft Future, Lil Durk, Latto – “Go Crazy (Remix)”, Doja Cat ft SZA – “Kiss Me More” among others.
