As a Showmax Original, The Real Housewives of Lagos will premiere in early 2022.
Our Real Housewives of Atlanta, Jersey, Durban, and Melbourne have entertained us for months now, so we’d like to peek inside the opulent lives of the most affluent women in Lagos.
The Real Housewives of Lagos will be the very first instalment of the award-winning franchise from NBC Universal Formats, a division of Universal Studios Group.
The format will also mark the 16th international version of The Real Housewives and the third time it will be adapted for African audiences.
RHOL will build upon the success of the previous two African editions, the Real Housewives of Durban and the Real Housewives of Johannesburg.
In 2019, The Real Housewives of Johannesburg was among the 10 most-streamed local TV series on Showmax, while The Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD) broke records when it launched on Showmax in January 2021.
With its launch, RHOD has become incredibly successful in 50 countries across Africa, as well as on Hayu worldwide in 27 territories, including Canada, UK, Ireland, Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, and the Philippines.
Next year, RHOD will return to Showmax for its second season.

Production of RHOL will be handled by LiveSpot 360, while RHOD will be handled by Let It Rain Films, Thumeka Hlotshana, with Emmy winner Lee Doig (Survivor USA) directing Season 2.
In early 2022, Showmax will be the first to offer RHOL and RHOD Season 2.
‘RHOL’ will be Showmax’s second original series in Nigeria after ‘I Am LAYCON’, which went on to become the first-day record holder in Nigeria for Showmax in February 2021.
