Billionaire Kim Kardashian West announced on social media on Monday that her shapewear and loungewear company Skims will provide the ladies’ undergarments for Team USA’s appearance at the Olympics in Tokyo in 2021.
KAMPALA | LIFESTYLE UGANDA — In a Tweet earlier today (June 28), Kim Kardashian West shared the news that Skims had been selected to design Team USA’s official undergarments, pyjamas, and loungewear at the 2021 Olympics. The same pieces will be available on Skims’ website in a capsule collection.
She wrote, “As long as I’ve been a kid, I’ve heard every detail about the Olympics from my stepdad, referring to Olympic gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner.
”Skims’ inclusion in @TeamUSA felt like a culmination of the moments I’ve spent admiring the athletes from the sidelines in the past.”
With everything from the American flag to the Team USA logo, Skims’ Olympic sleepwear and loungewear fit into their minimalist look.
Olympian sleepwear and loungewear In the official campaign, it was modelled by Paralympian Scout Bassett, track and field star Dalilah Muhammad, soccer player Alex Morgan, and swimmer Haley Anderson.
In addition to being given away to all female athletes on Team USA, the collection will be available to consumers in July, right in time for the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics.
Kardashian West launched Skims in 2019 and raised $154 million in Series A and Series A-1 funding from investors like Thrive Capital, Alliance Consumer Growth and Imaginary Ventures.
The company was valued at $1.6 billion in April.
Among company shareholders, KARDASHIAN WEST controls a majority stake along with cofounder Jens Grede.
According to Forbes, Kardashian West has an estimated net worth of $1 billion thanks to her 72% ownership of cosmetics company KKW Beauty. She also earns money from reality television and endorsement contracts, and small investments.
This year’s Team USA uniform will not only be designed by Kardashian West, but also by Ralph Lauren, worth $7 billion. Ralph Lauren has designed Team USA’s uniform since 2008 and will do so once again this year.
