KAMPALA | LIFESTYLE UGANDA (http://lifestyleuganda.com/) — On Sunday night, the 2021 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) saw many artistes from all over the continent winning numerous awards, including Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo who was named ‘best male artist East Africa’.

South African media personalities Pearl Thusi and Eddie Kadi hosted the show, on which Patoranking, Chike, Olakira, and D’Banj performed.
Eddy Kenzo was the only Ugandan artist to receive an award at the prestigious ceremony on Sunday, November 21, in Lagos Nigeria, despite the country having multiple talents nominated in various categories.
AFRIMA 2021 nominees from Uganda include Eddy Kenzo, Rema Namakula, Spice Diana, Afrie, Shivanah, B2C, and Bebe Cool.
Kenzo won the ‘Best Male Artist in Eastern Africa’ award, beating Bensoul from Kenya, Darassa, Diamond Platnumz, Harmonize, Lij Mic, Meddy, Nviiri The Storyteller, Rayvanny and Sauti Sol.
It was a great night for South Africa as Blaq Diamond and Makhadzi won awards in their respective categories.
As for DJ Sinyorita, she became the second female winner of the ”Best DJ in Africa” after Nigerian Dj Cuppy won the prize in 2020. Her real name is Mwanaisha Said.
The Nigerian Afrobeats act, Wizkid, was the second biggest winner at the AFRIMA 2021, scooping three awards, including the ‘best African artist’ prize.
Two awards went to Nigerian singers Fireboy DML and Cheque – the African Fans’ Favorite and the ‘Best Duo African Hip Hop’.
