For their song, ‘SummerYoMuthi,’ Blaq Diamond received eight nominations, including Best Male Artiste in Southern Africa and Artiste of the Year in Africa.
It also was named for: Song of the Year in Africa, Producer of the Year in Africa, Best Male Artiste in African Inspirational Music; Breakout Artiste of the Year; Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Pop; Best African Duo, Group or Band.
Focalistic of South Africa is second with seven nominations, mostly sparked by his ‘Ke Star’ remix featuring Davido and Vigro Deep, which targeted nods for Best Male Artiste in Southern Africa; Artiste of the Year in Africa; and Song of the Year in Africa.
Also named for Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Dance or Choreography; Best African Collaboration; Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Electro; Breakout Artiste of the Year.
With his hit song ‘Essence’ featuring Tems, Wizkid has six nominations including Artiste of the Year in Africa; Best Male Artist in Western Africa. Also nominated for Album of the Year; Best African Collaboration; Song of the Year in Africa; Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African R n B Soul.
Diamond Platnumz, Aya Nakamura, Iba One, DJ Tarico, Preck & Nelson Tivane all have five nominations apiece at the 2021 AFRIMA.
Omah Lay, Davido, and Patoranking each had four AFRIMA 2021 nominations, while Bella Shmurda, Olakira, and Burna Boy had three nominations.
Other nominees include Eddy Kenzo from Uganda, Zuchu from Tanzania, Ladipoe, Yemi Alade from Nigeria, Spice Diana from Uganda, Tems, Tiwa Savage, and Vector.
