What Are the First Signs of Diabetes and Symptoms?

Unlike other forms of diabetes, Type 1 is an autoimmune disease that prevents the pancreas from producing insulin, often leading to serious health complications if left untreated.

You may have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, if you think that you are experiencing any of the following early signs, make an appointment with your doctor.

There are two types of diabetes, each with different signs and symptoms. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the body attacks pancreatic cells, resulting in less or no insulin production.

Contents
  • Being tired all the time and hungry
  • Thirst and urination
  • Your mouth is dry
  • You get a yeast infection
  • Blurred vision

Type 2 diabetes is usually caused by lifestyle choices, although in some ethnic groups the risk of developing it is high. Like any other disease, there are early signs and symptoms of type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Most early symptoms are high levels of glucose in your blood, a type of sugar. The warning signs are so mild that you do not notice them. For type 2 diabetes, this is particularly true. Some do not find what they have until the problems come from the long-term damage caused by the disease.

Make an appointment to see your doctor, you might have type 1 or type 2 diabetes if you think you have some of the following early signs.

Being tired all the time and hungry

When a person has diabetes, glucose cannot move to the cells in their body, so it stays in the bloodstream. All the unused nutrients make you feel hungry and tired even when you eat. This is not a problem in your digestive system, it is a traffic problem.

Insulin is usually a hormone that helps cells move sugar, but in diabetics, their bodies do not produce enough insulin or they are insensitive to the effects of insulin.

Thirst and urination

All the extra sugar in your bloodstream causes your kidneys to go into overdrive. These organs produce more urine in an attempt to expel excess sugar. Too much urine means less water in your blood, which makes you feel thirsty.

So, if you feel like going to the bathroom and slipping water frequently, it may be time to talk to your healthcare provider.

Your mouth is dry

If your body produces extra urine, you lose water. This dehydration leads to dry mouth and dry skin. You can also experience itching. If this happens during the wet season of the year and you can’t blame the heaters or the weather, see your doctor!

You get a yeast infection

In general, yeast lives in your body in harmony with your body. But when there is extra sugar, their population grows out of control. One of the earliest symptoms of diabetes is a recurrent yeast infection.

It can occur on the genitals or skin. It is better to check this because yeast can easily develop resistance to drugs. It is better to cut off its food source than to try to treat the fungus with drugs.

Blurred vision

If your eyelids are filled with fluid, your eyesight may be affected. Excess glucose in the blood causes the lens to swell, which impairs vision. Of course, many things can cause that symptom, so if you have trouble seeing, it is time to see your doctor.
