Wizkid, the Nigerian King of Afropop, has announced the release date for his upcoming album, “More Love Less Ego.” This album is set to drop on Aug. 5, 2022.
KAMPALA | LIFESTYLE UGANDA — Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, a Nigerian singer and songwriter professionally known as Wizkid, the CEO of Starboy Entertainment, has announced the release date for his fifth studio album, ‘More Love Less Ego.‘ The album will be released on August 5, 2022.
The Grammy Award-winning singer, Wizkid, also gave followers a preview of a song expected to be included in his upcoming album in a series of Instagram stories shared earlier today. He also named a number of artists appearing on the upcoming album.
The ‘More Love Less Ego’ album is set to drop on the 5th of August 2022, barely two months from now. At least one new single is expected to be released before then to build anticipation.
Naira Marley, Skepta, Ayra Starr, TY, BNXN and Flame, among others, were also described as contributors in the Instagram story.
Wizkid’s last album “Made In Lagos” was hugely successful and enjoyed massive international recognition through the Grammy-nominated track “Essence”.
In addition to its success, the album garnered a Grammy nomination in the ‘Best Global Music’ category at the 63rd Grammy Awards but lost out to Angélique Kidjo.
Omah Lay, Burna Boy albums dropping soon
Now that Wizkid has announced the ‘More Love Less Ego’ album date, he joins Burna Boy and Omah Lay in a list of top Nigerian acts who also have albums in the works.
For Burna Boy, he revealed that the release of his next album “Love, Damini” will take place in time for his birthday – probably on July 2.
On June 24th, Omah Lay will release his next album, “Boy Alone.” In the meantime, however, he has released a single, “Woman,” showing what kind of music he intends to deliver with Boy Alone.
