NTV Uganda has unveiled Privah Elberz Nuwamanya as the new face of its flagship evening bulletin, NTV Tonight. The journalist and former KFM radio presenter made her on-screen debut on Monday, 5 May, in a move that has already attracted praise from viewers and industry peers.
Her calm delivery, clear diction, and poised presence were widely noted, with social media platforms lighting up shortly after the broadcast.
“Welcome on board, you did amazing on tonight’s news. You deserved your flowers on the first day,” wrote viewer Abiku Ivan Kun in response to NTV Uganda’s announcement on X, formerly Twitter.
Others recalled her earlier career on air. “I remembered her during KFM’s Who’s Got the Mic,” said Michael Yiga, referencing the talent search that brought her into the public eye. Another user, Smash’er, praised her voice and command of language, writing: “She has an absolute accent and flow of knowledge.”
Nuwamanya’s arrival comes as part of a wider newsroom refresh at NTV Uganda, which in recent weeks also welcomed Joram Paul Ssonko to the anchor desk. The appointments point to the station’s strategy of blending experience with emerging talent as it seeks to maintain its place as a leading voice in East African broadcasting.
Her background is rooted in radio. Nuwamanya was among the top finalists in KFM’s talent competition Who’s Got the Mic, a platform that earned her a role as a newsreader under the Nation Media Group. From there, she joined Capital FM, where she co-hosted the lively and well-received Drive show with Oulanyah— a mix of news, commentary, and entertainment that won a strong listenership.
According to her X profile, she continues to co-host the programme on Capital FM weekdays from 3pm to 7pm.
Though new to television, Nuwamanya brings years of experience in broadcasting. Her legal training adds further depth to her public profile, underscoring the authority she brings to current affairs reporting.
Her first appearance on NTV Tonight was described by some viewers as seamless, with many citing her confident handling of live news and composed delivery.
Announcing her debut, NTV Uganda said: “Meet the new face of NTV Tonight! Starting tonight, Privah Nuwamanya joins us as the new anchor of NTV Tonight. Fresh perspective. Trusted news.”
That message reflects the newsroom’s ongoing effort to evolve while staying grounded in the journalistic standards audiences have come to expect since NTV Uganda first went on air in 2006.
As she settles into the role, Nuwamanya represents a new wave of Ugandan broadcasters — professionals who are equally comfortable behind a microphone or in front of the camera, and who understand the power of authentic, accessible storytelling.
