ITV has cancelled the 2021 Britain’s Got Talent season in advance due to production problems arising from the pandemic.

The entertainment program is one of the largest prime time programs in the country, usually airing from April to June.

The 2020 season was disrupted due to COVID-19, which aired in two parts, the first half, pre-infection film auditions, aired from April to May, and the second half aired from late August to October, with the rest featured episodes created under COVID guidance.

However, the UK’s current COVID-19 crisis and the third national lockdown have proven that the 2021 season is logically impossible, starting in the new year.

The show, which features Simon Cowell as one of its judges, has traditionally been audited since January. Production was postponed to the beginning of this month.

spokesman for Britain’s Got Talent told Variety: “Everyone at ITV, Thames and Syco did everything they could to do it, but with our full priority on protecting the well-being and health of every person involved in the show, unfortunately for all the judges, hosts, contestants and viewers – unfortunately – It has been decided to move the recording and broadcast of the 15th series to 2022. ”

Explaining the reason for the cancellation of the 2021 Britain’s Got Talent show, ITV said that preparing for auditions has proven to be particularly challenging, as the project generally attracts a large number of artists from across the UK, with occasional international performances.

“Britain’s Got Talent is known for its diversity with large dance troupes, wonderful singers and luxury brands, and it has become clear that auditions cannot be filmed in a safe way with these types of actions. They cannot produce enough rehearsals and safety,” the spokesman said. As a result, the show has seemed a bit unfocused in recent episodes. “

The most recent iteration of the show featured “Britain’s Got Talent Christmas Spectacular” presented by Ant & Dec and featured judges Alesha Dixon, David Walliams, Amanda Holden and Ashley Banjo.

“Britain’s Got Talent” is part of the global “Got Talent” rights created by Cowell. However, Banjo replaced Simon Cowell last year after breaking his back in a bike accident. The show has seemed a bit unfocused in recent episodes, with Black Lives Matter sparking thousands of complaints to UK media outlet Ofcom.

There are strict COVID-19 crisis guidelines for film and television production in the UK, but the most recent lockdown will be until March

To date, 103,000 deaths have been reported from the virus in the country.
