The official host of the 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards in Kampala, Uganda is American DJ and record maker Khaled Mohamed Khaled or DJ Khaled.



The award-winning producer DJ Khaled will host this year’s Virtual MTV Africa Music Awards on February 20, 2021, in Kampala, the capital of Uganda.

Due to travel restrictions as a result of COVID-19 pandemic, DJ Khaled will serve as the international presenter/host for the Virtual MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) Kampala, which airs on February 20, 2021, in 180 countries.
The Grammy-winning DJ and record executive will “host the virtual awards ceremony with African affiliates in Miami, Florida (his home),” Viacom’s CBS Network said Friday.
Responding to this news, DJ Khaled expressed how excited he is to be given the opportunity to celebrate incredible African music, which has been a great inspiration in his life.

“MTV has always been a great partner, so I had the opportunity to host this year’s MAMA,” DJ Khaled said. “I can’t wait to celebrate the incredible music coming out of Africa, which has inspired me throughout my life.”
MTV is partnering with the Tourism Ministry of Uganda to celebrate the music, which is why the name of the event is Kampala, capital of the country.
The arrival of the show comes amid an expansion of original content on Viacom CBS’s African networks.
“Africa has some of the most vibrant talents in the world, and for the first time in MTV history we are pleased to discover these artists as MAMA broadcast in 180 countries,” said Bruce Gillmer, head of music, talent, programming & Events for ViacomCBS Media Networks.
