Ghislaine Maxwell is born
Ghislaine Maxwell was born in 1961 and grew up in the lush countryside of Oxfordshire, England. Her father, Robert Maxwell, was a prominent newspaper chancellor and, eventually, a British legislator, who had a reputation for breaking the law. He died in mysterious circumstances in 1991 after falling from the boat and drowning.
Though an inquest was told he had a heart attack that led to his drowning, details soon emerged that his business was on the verge of financial ruin. Robert Maxwell had committed massive pension fraud against his employees, and speculation that his death was actually a suicide was long over.
Party in the United States
Ghislaine Maxwell traveled to the United States after her father’s death, and quickly worked in popular social circles. She also reportedly attended Chelsea Clinton’s wedding and was invited to take the stage at the Clinton Global Initiative Summit in 2009. In the early 2000s, Maxwell was photographed with Donald and Melania Trump with Epstein.
But the most blatant photo of the entire saga is Maxwell in the background. At the forefront, Prince Andrew, the youngest son of the Queen of England, holds his arms around a young woman named Virginia Roberts. Roberts alleges that Epstein, with Maxwell’s help, crossed the border to have s*x with Prince Andrew.
Epstein’s partner in crime?
Ghislaine Maxwell reportedly met Epstein in the early ’90s, and after dating for a while, they became non-romantic life partners. Epstein would refer to Maxwell as his “best friend” and would attend events with her after their romantic engagement.

Maxwell is now accused of finding and decorating vulnerable young women for Epstein. Many affected by Epstein’s under-age s*x ring said Maxwell first discovered them and brought them into Epstein’s orbit. Also, many acquaintances say that Maxwell was the one who introduced Epstein to his many high-profile friends.
Current charges
Federal prosecutors have accused Maxwell of persuading and conspiring to travel minors to engage in illegal sexual activity. She is also facing charges of conspiring to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.
“Maxwell helped, facilitated and contributed to the abuse of Geoffrey Epstein’s minor,” the indictment says. “She did this by helping people who knew Maxwell and Epstein to hire, groom, and eventually abuse those under the age of 18.” According to the indictment, some of the victims were 14-year-olds.

One particularly vulnerable Virginia Roberts claims that Maxwell introduced her to Epstein in 2001. The two took the young woman to London, where they forced her to have s#x with Prince Andrew.
Justice for the victims
With Epstein’s death in 2019, many of the victims consider Maxwell’s imperative to achieve a just sentence. One victim, Jennifer Aroaz, has claimed that Maxwell was Epstein’s partner and part of his “web of crimes.” While the late Epstein cannot stand trial, Maxwell still has to answer for her crimes.
“I’m angry that Mr. Epstein’s death will never answer me personally in court,” Aroaz said.
